Responsible for:
- spreading, leveling, smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete
- inspecting completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations
- cleaning, maintaining, adjusting, calibrating and servicing equipment used in the performance of duties
- maintaining appropriate service and repair records
Ability to:
- use appropriate hand and power tools to place concrete into finished forms to specified textures
- vibrate, level, smooth and shape surface of concrete
- finish concrete surfaces to specifications
- remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer
- patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
- install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications
- mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and strait edge
- signal truck/pump truck driver to facilitate pouring concrete
- move chute as needed over concrete forms and/or rebar
- apply hardening and sealing compound to cure surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surface
- read and comprehend plans and blueprints
- perform physical labor
- follow and give oral and written instructions
- maintain cooperative working relationships
- demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population
Knowledge of:
- thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in concrete finishing in both residential and commercial/industrial settings
- applicable building and safety code requirements
- methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment
Education:
- high school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- 5 years of experience working as a concrete finisher in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting
- must possess a valid Wyoming driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
- any additional training or certification is a plus
Physical activities:
- lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted)
- bending, standing, climbing, and walking
Able to safely use:
- manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades
Must be able to handle:
- hazardous materials safely
- tolerate exposure to electrical hazards
- tolerate environmental hazards such as molds and various solvents
